About

Shelley has been creating mixed media art from a very early age and spent many hours in the garden shed with her grandad. He introduced her to pencil sketching, watercolour and even stained glass.  Now her preferred choice is Acrylic on canvas.

Having grown up in a creative environment surrounded by abstract art her paintings make use of bright and vivid colours. Shelley also co-owns a tattoo studio and during her time as an artist there, she specialised in portraits of both people and animals.  This passion has now moved into her paintings and her artwork combines her portrait work, colour and abstraction.

As a self-taught artist Shelley has created hundreds of commissioned pieces and believes that the personality of a subject first comes from the eyes and she is known to sometimes enlarge this feature in her portrait work.  Shelley loves experimenting with colours and will often use the unexpected.  Although she creates emotion in her paintings she leaves it to the viewer to create their own story behind her work.

Her favourite artist is Mervyn Charlton and she owns and admires several of his paintings.

Shelley now works from her home studio based in Fareham, Hampshire and some of her work was recently displayed at The Southern Nature Art exhibition.
